Start with Korean soup

Slow down at Bongeunsa

Find the city contrast

COEX — or don't

Wonder where this takes you? ↗

You might like this if...

You want a little more from your evening.

Nothing complicated — just somewhere to slow down for a while.

One thing people keep saying...

I didn't expect to find this kind of quiet in Gangnam.

Before you go...

Start with something warm.

Try a bowl of Korean soup. There's something really comforting about it after a long day.

In Korea in May?

Don't miss the lanterns. Bongeunsa lights up with colorful lanterns around Buddha's Birthday — it's a pretty magical sight. Just check the dates before you go.

Keep COEX optional.

If the quiet already feels like enough, there's no reason to add anything else.

  1. 18:00

    Start with something warm

Find a Korean soup place nearby. Dwaeji-gukbap, sundae-guk, haejang-guk, or samgyetang — pick whatever sounds good. A hot bowl just feels right at the end of a long day.

  2. 18:50

    Walk toward Bongeunsa

It only takes a few minutes from the main road. Keep walking and notice how quickly the pace of Gangnam begins to change.

  3. 19:10

    Let yourself slow down

Walk without trying to see everything. Take your time — this is one of those places that's better when you're not trying to get anywhere.

  4. 19:40

    Find the city contrast

Walk behind the large Buddha and look back toward the skyline. The stillness here against Gangnam's glass towers makes Seoul feel like two different places at once.

  5. 20:40

    Keep walking — or don't

If you want a little more from the evening, COEX is right across the street. Or head home while the quiet still holds. Either ending works.
